Schuylkill County Me Too
The Me Too movement has reached the coal region here in Schuylkill County.
Right now, Schuylkill County Commissioner George Halcovage faces several accusations of acting inappropriately toward women.
An internal Courthouse investigation revealed it’s likely Halcovage violated several workplace policies, including sexual harassment and verbal and physical abuse.
However, as a County Commissioner, he can’t get fired from his job unless he’s criminally convicted on any potential charges against him. The only ways he’ll leave office is on his own by resigning, or by getting impeached.
Several women have spoken publicly about alleged previous similar incidents involving Halcovage.
Halcovage says he won’t resign from office and denies any wrongdoing from the accusations.
He was elected to a 4-year term as Schuylkill County Commissioner in November 2019.
