More than $3 million has been awarded to an economic development project at Highridge Business Park in Schuylkill County.
Schuylkill Economic Development Corp. (SEDCO) is the recipient of $3.1 million to improve a 26.4-acre property in Foster Township, according to a release from State Sen. Dave Argall.
The money – which includes a $1.5M+ grant and a $1.5M loan – will be used to conduct a geotechnical study, clearing and grading, utility extensions, stormwater management, paving, and curbing.
Money is being awarded from the Pennsylvania Strategic Investments to Enhance Sites program (PA SITES), which is administered by the state’s Dept. of Community and Economic Development.
SEDCO president Frank Zukas tells Coal Region Canary that the property is currently known as Lot 12 along Keystone Blvd. at Highridge. The lot, according to SEDCO, is suited for a building with a footprint of 262,400 square feet and 100 feet tall. It will have 42 dock doors and space for 134 vehicles and 96 trailer.
“This investment represents a transformational step forward for Schuylkill County,” Zukas says in a statement. “This strategic investment positions Foster Township – and our entire region – for long-term economic growth and competitiveness.”
