A Luzerne County man is facing multiple felony charges, including attempted rape of a child, following accusations that he sexually assaulted two young girls over a span of several years in New Jersey and Schuylkill County.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Andres Figueroa, 45, of Hazle Township. He is charged with attempted rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, indecent exposure, and corruption of minors.
The investigation began in November 2025 when police received a report regarding the assaults. Investigators then interviewed individuals connected to the girls, along with a 16-year-old victim, at a residence in Tamaqua.
During a forensic interview in December 2025, the 16-year-old told investigators she was repeatedly assaulted by Figueroa. The victim alleged the abuse started when she was 7 years old and living in the same home as Figueroa in New Jersey. She told police the abuse would generally occur while another adult in the household was at work.
The victim alleged Figueroa used a code word to initiate the sexual contact. She told police he subjected her to various forms of severe sexual abuse and assault during these encounters.
Police say Figueroa and the victims relocated to Tamaqua in 2020. The victim alleged the assaults continued “almost every day” at homes on Clay St. and E. Elm St. in Tamaqua. She told investigators Figueroa would offer her rewards, such as taking her to McDonald’s, to submit to the abuse, which she told police she accepted because they were hungry.
The victim told police the abuse stopped when she was 14. She stated she refused a cash offer from Figueroa, shut her bedroom door, and locked it.
The 16-year-old also alleged Figueroa sexually assaulted a second young girl living in the home, who later relocated to New Jersey. The teenager told investigators an adult in the home once overheard what was happening and asked the girls about it, but they denied the abuse out of fear because Figueroa was in the room giving them “the look.”
