National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Schuylkill County on Thursday. The Flood Watch is in effect from noon until 2 a.m. Friday, Aug. 27.
Lancaster and Lebanon counties are also included in this Flood Watch in central Pennsylvania.
Forecasters say excessive runoff from heavy rainfall may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone areas. Creeks and streams may rise out of the banks. Areas with poor drainage may flood.
Heavy rainfall may result from downpours linked to thunderstorms that may occur this afternoon into tonight, NWS says. Rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour may result in scattered areas of flash flooding.
Severe thunderstorms are possible later today. Some thunderstorms may produce wind gusts of 60 mph or greater, hail, and possibly a tornado.
