Based online, Mady’s Charming Creations is the definition of a hustle driven by passion and perseverance.
Officially established in 2024 by Mady Wolfgang, the shop specializes in highly customizable handmade earrings, car freshies, and wax melts using high-quality materials. Balancing life in the National Guard, full-time college, and employment, Mady serves as a one-woman powerhouse handling everything from design to delivery.
In this Q&A with Mady, learn how a pandemic hobby turned into a thriving small business, how she navigates a busy schedule, and her inspiring long-term plans to give back to local first responders.
What inspired you to start this business, and how did your personal journey lead you here?
My business started in 2020 after COVID closed everything down. I turned my boredom into making bangle bracelets as a hobby, but never took it seriously enough to form a business.

In the summer of 2023, while I was at Army basic training, I was asked to start thinking about Christmas gift ideas. The first thing that came to mind was jewelry-making supplies so I could start creating again.
In January 2024, I started back up making earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. Since then, I have attended several craft shows, created many different products, and continued to grow my business. Today, I focus on handmade earrings, wax melts, and car freshies.
What unique features and specialties do you offer?
All MCC products are created using high-quality, long-lasting materials such as faux leather, jewelry findings, fragrance oils, and aroma beads. Many products can be customized to fit a customer’s preferences, from colors and themes to scents and designs, allowing customers to create something that is uniquely their own.
What other unique offerings can’t be found elsewhere in our community?
Every item I offer is customizable to fit each customer’s style and preferences. Customers can choose from a wide variety of colors, themes, charms, scents, and designs for earrings, wax melts, and car freshies. I also offer custom image freshies, along with fundraising opportunities that help local organizations raise money while providing a unique product their supporters can enjoy.

Can you share an interesting fact or story about your business that most people may not know?
Mady’s Charming Creations is truly a one-woman business. Every product is carefully designed, photographed, marketed, packaged, and delivered by me. On rare occasions, my family members and significant other lend a helping hand by cutting holes in earring cards, writing prices, or even restocking storefronts when life gets busy. Their support allows me to continue growing my business while balancing my personal life as well.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a small business, and how did you overcome it?
One of the biggest challenges has been standing out in a popular handmade market. However, I’ve learned that there is room for everyone, and every maker brings something unique to their customers.
Another challenge has been handling this business solo while also balancing life in the National Guard, having a job, and attending college full time.
How does your business contribute to the local community or participate in community events?
Mady’s Charming Creations regularly participates in local craft shows, vendor events, and supports other small businesses through storefront partnerships. I also offer fundraising opportunities for organizations through custom car freshies, helping groups raise money while supporting a local small business. Giving back to the community is important to me, and my long-term goal is to continue supporting and partnering with local organizations whenever possible.
What do you want customers to experience when they interact with your business?
I want every customer to have a smooth, friendly, and personalized experience. Whether they’re ordering a custom item or purchasing something ready-made, I want them to feel valued, appreciated, and excited to support a small business.
What are your future plans or dreams for your business?
My future plans are to continue growing both online and through local storefront partnerships while attending more craft shows and community events. My long-term goal is to open my own storefront and expand my product offerings to include items that appeal to first responders. A portion of all proceeds from my storefront will be donated back to local fire and EMS organizations as a way to support those who serve our communities.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to start their own business in our community?
Never stop. There will be rocky roads and heavy storms along the way. There may be times when you go an entire month without receiving an order, but then the right customer will come your way. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, so don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone. Take chances, learn from mistakes, and keep moving forward even when things feel discouraging.
