Schuylkill County Man Wanted for Failing to Comply with Megan’s Law Requirements

Hardy may have moved back to New York

A Schuylkill County man convicted of rape more than 40 years ago is wanted by police for a Megan’s Law violation.

Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli has signed an arrest warrant for Craig Hardy, 66, of Ashland. Ashland Police Chief Ger Daley says he was on patrol last Monday when he noticed that Hardy’s address in the 1200 block of Walnut St. was vacant.

Daley says he contacted State Police and asked for an investigation request to be started. The following day, he received that request.

Neighbors reportedly told police that Hardy and his girlfriend were kicked out of that address months ago. Daley confirmed that an eviction hearing was held in District Court on Nov. 3. It is believed Hardy may have moved back to New York. However, he was required as part of his Megan’s Law requirements to routinely check in with State Police, be photographed, and provide current address information. Hardy’s last verification happened on Nov. 11 and State Police say Hardy is in violation of his requirements.

When apprehended, Hardy is facing a felony count of failure to comply with registration of sex offenders requirements.
