3 Schuylkill County Women Face Assault Charges Following Alleged Public Melee

Incident occurred on N. 2nd St. in Pottsville, police say

Three Schuylkill County women face charges following an alleged donnybrook involving pepper spray, biting, shoving, and fists flying last month.

Onyxia Bailey, 22, Xiara Biggs, 18, and Dayla Harris, 19, all of Pottsville, were each charged this week with misdemeanor simple assault and summary disorderly conduct. All three women are scheduled for preliminary hearings on June 15 before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley.

Police in Pottsville say they were called on April 13 to the area of 675 N. 2nd St. for a report of an armed male who fled the scene in a red Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police located the vehicle in the 800 block of 2nd St.

Police say they ordered the occupants – including Harris, a male, a juvenile, and the driver – to exit the vehicle. Police did not find a firearm on anyone’s person, but after receiving consent to search the vehicle, police located a black revolver BB gun in the trunk.

When questioned by police, a male said he was walking on N. 2nd St. with his current girlfriend, Biggs, when they were jumped by his ex-girlfriend, a juvenile, and Harris. The male told police he attempted to intervene and separate the fighting individuals.

Bailey told police a different version of events, saying she was driving back from a park when she saw Harris and the male. Bailey told police Harris began fighting the juvenile, and when the male ran toward the juvenile to grab her, Bailey shoved him.

According to police, Bailey then pepper-sprayed the male. Bailey told police this led to Biggs and Harris grabbing and punching her, resulting in Biggs and Bailey wrestling on the ground.

During the struggle, police say Biggs bit Bailey in the chest, causing bleeding, redness, and pain. Biggs told police she bit Bailey because she was pulling her hair. Biggs also told police she had a pair of scissors during the incident but stated she did not use them to stab Bailey.

Bailey reportedly told police that Biggs had a pair of scissors and she was unsure if she had been stabbed. Police later recovered the pepper spray from Bailey’s vehicle.

Police say they saw visible injuries on Bailey’s right shoulder, left breast, and right leg. Harris had injuries to the right side of her face, right hand, and left arm. EMS evaluated Harris at the scene and transported her to a hospital for further treatment.
