A Schuylkill County man was taken into custody and arraigned Tuesday after police say he injured his girlfriend’s hand during an argument over vacuuming.
Vincent Petrozino, 31, of Schuylkill Haven, was arrested after the alleged victim’s mother contacted police to report a domestic disturbance. She told police her daughter had just arrived at her home with her grandchild and was ready to speak with police about the incident.
Police say they met with the visibly upset victim and she said her and her boyfriend, Petrozino, were arguing about vacuuming when he became enraged. The victim accused Petrozino of grabbing her hands and bending her fingers, causing significant pain.
The victim told police she heard her finger snap while Petrozino was bending it. Police observed that the victim’s right ring finger was swelling and turning purple at the knuckle. The victim refused medical treatment at the scene but told police she would have the finger checked later.
During the interview, the victim also showed police older, purple bruising on her right arm extending from her elbow to her armpit. The victim told police Petrozino caused the bruising by grabbing her during a separate argument a few days prior.
Police then responded to address where the incident allegedly occurred. Petrozino answered the door. When police asked him what had happened, he did not respond. Police took him into custody without incident and transported him to the Schuylkill Haven police station. He was brought before Senior Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek on Tuesday afternoon and charged with a misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary count of harassment.
Kosciolek set bail at $10,000 unsecured and ordered Petrozino to stay at his father’s residence and have no contact with the victim. Police underscored for Petrozino what no contact meant and the consequences of violating the judge’s bail condition. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for later this month.
