A Schuylkill County woman faces felony charges after police say she stole more than $63,000 from a man she lived with, using his debit card and banking information without permission over a four-year period.
Police charged Michelle Sporck, 51, of Pottsville, with one felony count each of access device fraud, theft, and receiving stolen property.
The victim reported the fraudulent activity on his checking account in December, telling police that Sporck, described as a close friend, had been making unauthorized transactions. The victim told police he confronted Sporck, who apologized and admitted to using the card without his knowledge, police say.
During an interview with police in February, Sporck admitted to taking money from the victim’s account, police say. Investigators showed Sporck surveillance footage from an ATM withdrawal in November, and she confirmed the image showed her making the transaction while wearing a Minnesota Vikings jacket, police say.
Sporck told police she was able to access the funds because the victim’s PIN was his birth year, making it easy to remember, police say.
Sporck admitted to police that she began ordering items online in December 2021, stating she bought stuffed animals, jewelry, Vikings merchandise, and other items. Sporck told police she was afraid to tell the victim about the money because she knew it was wrong and that he would be upset, police say.
An investigation into the victim’s bank account revealed transactions totaling $63,096.81 between December 2021 and November 2025, police say. The unauthorized purchases were made at dozens of businesses, including Amazon, eBay, Target, Walmart, Netflix, and TikTok Shop, alongside cash withdrawals from ATMs, police allege.
