A Schuylkill County woman faces a felony child endangerment charge after police say she assaulted her son during a domestic disturbance Wednesday night.
Brooke McShaw-Boardman, 35, of Pottsville, is charged with felony endangering the welfare of children, misdemeanor simple assault, and summary harassment.
Police in Pottsville say they responded to a home on Fairmont Ave. shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday (April 15) following reports of screaming from a residence. At the scene, police say they met a boy with visible, recent injuries to the left side of his face, including swelling, redness, and abrasions.
The child told police his mother held him to the ground by his hair and punched him.
Police say McShaw-Boardman showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and glassy eyes. She allegedly admitted to yelling at the children for not listening. Police say there has been prior involvement with Schuylkill County Children and Youth Services (CYS) with McShaw-Boardman.
She was arraigned overnight before Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer and released on $25,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 27 before Judge James Reiley.
