A trial date has been set in the first-degree murder case against Andrew Peleschak, accused of shooting his wife to death last October.
At a status conference at Schuylkill County Courthouse on Monday, Judge Christopher Hobbs set a trial date of June 8 in this case. Jury selection will begin on May 29.
Hobbs ordered the District Attorney’s Office to hand over all discovery evidence by May 1. District Attorney Mike O’Pake says his office is just waiting on a ballistics report and once that’s in hand, it’ll be turned over to the defense. All pre-trial motions in this case must be filed no less than 10 days prior to jury selection.
Shortly after midnight on Oct. 4, police in Frackville responded to Peleschak’s home on S. Center St. in Frackville after he reportedly called 9-1-1 to say he’d shot his wife, Natalie, to death.
Peleschak allegedly admitted to police that he shot his wife once in the groin area and then in her forehead. He then went out the back entrance to his house and attempted to take his own life by shooting himself in the head but mostly missed. Police say they found Peleschak at the scene bleeding profusely from his head while his wife lay dead in their home.
During an interview with police, Peleschak allegedly said he found messages on his wife’s phone that implied she was being unfaithful.
Peleschak is facing first- and third-degree murder charges as well as counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, and reckless endangerment.
Previously, Peleschak waived his right to a preliminary hearing in this case.
