Students at Gillingham Charter School in Pottsville attended classes virtually on Tuesday after a “general threat against the school” was discovered on Monday.
The threat was discovered during dismissal time on Monday, following a normal day of classes.
According to Nicolle Hutchinson, executive director and Director of Education at the charter school, tells The Canary that police were immediately notified and an investigation was started.
Parents, Hutchinson said, were notified in the afternoon about the threat and then later Monday night, were told that classes would be conducted virtually on Tuesday.
“We felt it best to be cautious and hold school remotely until the investigation is over,” she said via email with The Canary.
Police notified school administration that their investigation was inconclusive at that point and needed more time.
Pottsville Police Chief John Morrow said Tuesday no arrests have been made as a result of the investigation.
Classes are set to resume in person on Wednesday at Gillingham.
