A Berks County man is behind bars in Schuylkill County today after police say he was chasing people while naked and they found him in his vehicle completely nude.
According to court documents, police in Shenandoah were called to the 100 block of W. Cherry St. in Shenandoah on Friday night, shortly before 9, for a report of a nude man chasing people in the area.
At the scene, police say they came upon a black Nissan in the middle of the intersection of Cherry and Jardin streets. In the driver’s side of the vehicle, police say they found Monzel Collins III, 50, of Reading, naked and asleep. A nearly empty bottle of Jack Daniels was in the passenger seat.
Collins was taken into custody.
In the course of their investigation into this incident, police say that a witness told them that a friend came to their house saying there was a naked man outside. The witness went otuside and confronted Collins.
Collins reportedly said to the witness, “You want some of these goods?” While saying that, Collins reportedly gestured toward his penis.
The witness told police they started recording the incident on their phone. After the witness refused “these goods” Collins walked back to his vehicle.
During this incident, a juvenile related to the witness saw Collins in the nude.
Police charged Collins with corruption of minors, a felony, along with misdemeanor offenses of indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, and open lewdness, along with a summary offense for the alcohol.
Collins was arraigned later Friday night before District Magistrate Judge Anthony Kilker and is being held at Schuylkill County Prison on $25,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for July 10.
CORRECTION: The original version of this article indicated Collins was from Schuylkill County. He is from Reading in Berks County.
