Police: Schuylkill County Woman Had 87 Grams of Coke, $21K in Cash in a Safe

Police act on juvenile’s tip

A Schuylkill County woman is facing felony drug charges following a police investigation that began with a drug-related complaint earlier this month.

According to court documents, Tamaqua Police were dispatched to a residence on Pine St. shortly after 7:30 p.m. on June 13 regarding a reported drug complaint.

Upon arrival, police reportedly spoke with a juvenile who reportedly provided information about drugs allegedly stored in two safes within the home.

Shortly after, Ivette Roman, 55, arrived at the scene. Police informed Roman of the purpose of their visit, and she reportedly consented to a search of the residence.

Roman opened the two safes, and inside, police say they discovered more than 87 grams of cocaine and approximately 3 pounds of marijuana. Also found were $21,049 in cash, a black scale, empty baggies, and three firearms—a Springfield Armory 9mm, a Smith & Wesson .38 special, and a Savage .22LR.

Roman was arraigned on Monday before District Magistrate Judge Stephen Bayer. She faces two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver and misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Bayer set bail at 10% of $25,000, which Roman posted the same day. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 22.

No wonder Schuylkill County is infested with drugs when the magistrates set ridiculously low bails for drug dealers.
