Two familiar suspects have been charged with burglary at a Little League concession stand last year.
Police in Pottsville say that on May 11 of this year, someone came forward and named three others who participated in a robbery of the Rotary Little League concession stand on Mahantongo St. last June.
The person pointed the finger at Adan Twigg, Edward Martinez, and a juvenile suspect.
Twigg and Martinez were two of the four suspects in the armed hold-up of the Minersville General Store in August 2024. And Twigg is accused of stealing a US Mail Jeep in June of last year and taking it for a joyride to New York. Martinez was picked up in that reported stolen Jeep, according to police.
Based on a police investigation revealed in court documents, the reported theft from the Rotary Little League concession stand happened just days before Twigg is suspected of stealing that US Mail Jeep.
Police say they have obtained camera footage from the baseball facility that shows three male suspects – all wearing dark clothing, masks, and gloves – show up on June 13 and smash a window to the concession stand and then leave.
Just before 4 a.m., police say, three males show up at the concession stand again and crawl through the smashed window to gain entry. Once inside, the three suspects empty a cash drawer into a duffel bag and carry a safe out of the building, fleeing toward Rotary Park on W. Norwegian St.
The safe was damaged but not opened and found by Little League officials by the fence in center field on June 18, police say. It had $150 inside. Officials told police that the cash drawer had $200 inside.
Martinez is awaiting trial in the Minersville General Store robbery case. Twigg pleaded guilty and is serving 4-10 years in state prison related to that incident.
New charges were filed against Twigg recently for the theft of the US Mail Jeep.
Now, Twigg and Martinez are facing new felony charges of burglary and criminal trespass, two misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors, and misdemeanor counts of theft and receiving stolen property.
