National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for Schuylkill County on Thursday. The Flood Watch is in effect until midnight.
Forecasters say excessive runoff from more expected heavy rainfall this afternoon into early tonight could cause flooding situations in Schuylkill County. Multiple rounds of heavy rain from thundestorms can result in flash flooding of streams, creeks, and poor drainage areas.
Rainfall rates could exceed 3 inches per hour at times where several storms track east-southeast across the same locations, NWS says.
Rain and storms may subside in the late morning and early afternoon hours before restrarting mid-afternoon through early Thursday night. NWS says thunderstorms will “greatly increase” across central Pennsylvania.
Parts of Schuylkill County have endured heavy rain and thunderstorms the past two days, prompting Flash Flood Warnings from National Weather Service each day. No incidents of serious flooding have been reported thus far.
