GIANT Recalls Store Brand Salsas On Salmonella Contamination Fears

The Giant Company has issued a recall of its store brands of salsas on fears they may be contaminated with salmonella bacteria.

The company said it was notified by its supplier of the possible contamination. The recall affects the following products sold under the GIANT and MARTIN’S brands:

GIANT/MARTIN’S Hot Salsa, 16 oz., UPC 68826703195, all lots/all codes
GIANT/MARTIN’S Mild Salsa, 16 oz., UPC 68826703252 or UPC 007663751137, all lots/all codes

If anyone purchased these products, they should be discarded immediately, the company says. A full refund for the purchase price can be obtained by contacting Customer Service.

Anyone experiencing signs of illness should consult a healthcare provider.

SIgns of salmonella poisoning include diarrhea, fever, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, and headaches. Symptoms can appear within six hours and up to six days following infection.

While many cases of salmonella poisoning are relatively mild, some severe cases can lead to dehydration.
