More Haulers Cited, Fined for Safety Violations Bringing Loads to BRADS Landfill

Cracked frames and axles, bald and flat tires noted

Three trucking companies bringing loads to the BRADS Landfill were cited and fined for safety and other violations by State Police during recent inspections at the Blythe Township facility.

The violations included potentially dangerous situations like bald tires, flat tires, cracked frames and axles, and defective brakes.

These violations have become somewhat commonplace for trucking companies hauling materials to the Burma Rd. dump. And the violations add to the argument that trucks hauling to and from BRADS Landfill are dangerous and threaten public safety.

On April 16, the trucking company known as 7 Win Turbo Trucking Corp., of Tamaqua, had two of its tractor trailer vehicles cited for safety issues.

According to court documents filed with District Court in Port Carbon, just prior to 6:30 that morning, one truck and trailer received 17 safety citations that could cost the 7 Win Turbo more than $4,000 in fines and costs.

Safety violations noted by a State Police inspector include bald tires (including one tire with its inner belt exposed), defective and leaking air brakes, inoperable brakes, cracked axles, missing mudflaps, broken brake lights, a defective electrical system, and failing to correct issues from a previous inspection.

Later that day, after noon, another 7 Win Turbo truck and trailer at BRADS Landfill was cited for 8 safety violations that racked up nearly $1,300 in fines and costs.

This vehicle had a frame with multiple cracks in it, a defective electrical system, and empty fire extinguishers.

Jaren Transport Corp., of Hackettstown, NJ, was cited for 8 safety violations when one of its vehicles visited BRADS Landfill with a load on April 16, too. Those citations call for nearly $2,500 in fines and costs.

During an on-site inspection, Jaren Transport’s vehicle was cited for having two nearly flat tires, four of ten of its brakes being inoperable, mismatched brake chambers, a loose U-joint, and no documentation of periodic inspection.

KMLM Corp., of College Point, NY, was cited for 9 safety violations on April 16, as well. Those citations could cost the company more than $1,300 in fines and costs.

Noted during an inspection of a KMLM vehicle shortly after 11 a.m. that day are oil leaking from the motor, no inspection on the truck, no up-to-date registration on the trailer, and several failures to correct issues noted during a previous inspection.
