Tractor-Trailer Rolls Into BRADS Landfill with Two Tires Missing Off One Axle

And that was just part of the problem, police say.

A tractor-trailer allegedly rolled into BRADS Landfill in Blythe Township earlier this month with an entire set of dual tires missing from one axle and all 10 lugnuts on another tire loose.

And those are just some of the safety violations State Police say they found during an inspection of the vehicle at the landfill along Burma Rd. on Aug. 4. State Police-Jonestown filed eight traffic citations against EZ Freight Service LLC, of Dresher, after a Motor Carrier Enforcement trooper inspected the company’s 2018 Freightliner and its trailer at the landfill around 7:20 a.m. that day.

Tpr. David Cushner reported he observed the truck enter the landfill with the dual tires and the rims missing from Axle 5 on the driver’s side of the trailer. On that same wheel position, police say the brake was inoperative because the tires and the drum were gone.

The wheel on the opposite side of that axle was still in place but flat, police say, measuring 26 psi against a maximum of 120 psi. All 10 of its lug nuts were loose, police say.

The truck’s right front tire was also flat, police say, measuring 40 psi against a maximum of 105 psi.

Police say they found more loose hardware farther up the combination. Four of 10 lug nuts were loose on one wheel of Axle 4 on the passenger side and 1 of 10 loose on the wheel across from it.

The vehicle was taken out of service following the inspection, police say. With fines surcharges, costs, and fees, the eight citations total $1,565.50.

All citations were filed at District Court in Port Carbon. The company has 10 days from receipt to enter a plea.
