Police: Schuylkill County Man Shoved Woman Into Traffic, Stole Her Vape

Daniel Ganly facing aggravated assault, robbery charges

A Schuylkill County man remains in prison after police say he pushed a woman into traffic, assaulted her, and then stole her vape.

According to court documents, a Trooper from State Police-Schuylkill Haven barracks was dispatched to a home along Ann St. in Norwegian Township on the afternoon of April 15 for a report of a disturbance.

Police arrived and met with EMS personnel who were already on the scene. The victim of this alleged incident was already in the back of an ambulance receiving treatment. She reportedly told police that her friend – identified as Daniel Ganly, 23, of Norwegian Township – lashed out at her and shoved her onto the road.

After Ganly shoved the woman down onto the road, he demanded that she give him her vape device. As the victim tried getting away, Ganly reportedly struck her in the head multiple times and then threatened to kill her. She said the incident lasted about 15 minutes, police report.

Finally, the woman was able to flee the scene, running for about 75 yards before collapsing. The victim told police that she believed Ganly was off his medication.

Police say the victim had blood on her mouth and shirt sleeve, redness on the bridge of her nose, and suffered a chipped tooth when she was shoved to the ground.

Surveillance footage of the incident was obtained, police say. On that footage, police say they could see Ganly and the victim walking south on Ann St. Ganly then lunges toward the victim and shoves her onto Ann St. while two vehicles are approaching at a high rate of speed. As Ganly is chasing the victim, he says, “I’m going to kill you,” police report.

Ganly was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge David Plachko on Tuesday evening. Police have charged him with first-degree felony aggravated assault, second-degree felony robbery, and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, making terroristic threats, and reckless endangerment. He also faces a summary offense for harassment.

Plachko set bail at $50,000 cash, which hasn’t been posted. Ganly remains behind bars at Schuylkill County Prison pending a preliminary hearing which has been scheduled for April 24.
