A Tamaqua woman is facing numerous charges after she allegedly threatened to burn down the apartment building where she lived and bring harm to her landlord.
According to an affidavit, police in Tamaqua responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a noise complaint at an apartment building on Pine St. on Feb. 27. The complainant in this incident said they heard power tools operating shortly after 10 p.m. that night. They also said that they’d gone through with an eviction of their upstairs tenant, adding that that tenant had been threatening her downstairs tenant and her.
The downstairs tenant reportedly flagged down police a little later. They provided police with a statement saying their upstairs neighbor, identified as Julika Corojo-Colon, hit his car while it was parked in the yard, threatened to burn down the apartment building, and threatened the safety of the building’s owner.
Police say they contacted the building’s owner, who corroborated the claims of threats made against them and the other tenant.
Corojo-Colon is now facing three misdemeanor counts of making terroristic threats and three summary offenses of harassment. A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for April 8 before District Magistrate Judge Stephen Bayer.
