National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Schuylkill County.
The Winter Storm Watch goes into effect on Thursday afternoon and expires on Friday afternoon. Initial forecasts are for 6 or more inches of heavy, wet snow.
Heavy snow is only expected at elevations of 1,500 feet or greater. Lower elevations and valley areas should receive significantly less snow.
In areas that may receive the heaviest snow, the type of snow combined with strong winds forecasted for the time of the Winter Storm Watch could cause power outages.
Road conditions may be hazardous during this time, too.
Sullivan and Tioga counties are also included in this Winter Storm Watch.
