Two Schuylkill County men – one who wielded a pair of scissors – face charges after a late-night fight about a woman.
Zakee Crawley, 25, and Ervin Anderson, 34, both of Ashland, were each charged with simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct following the Aug. 14 incident in Ashland.
Troopers from the State Police-Frackville responded around 3 a.m. to a report of a disturbance at 312 Centre St. in Ashland.
Police say the two men had spent much of the day together at the Ashland Grille with a mutual female acquaintance. Later that night, a disagreement regarding the woman escalated into a verbal argument outside her residence.
According to police, the woman told Crawley to go inside her apartment to separate the two men and defuse the situation. Anderson then demanded that Crawley return outside.
Investigators allege that when Crawley exited the apartment, a fight ensued. Crawley retrieved a pair of scissors from his pocket and swung them at Anderson, striking him in the back of the head.
After being struck, Anderson got on top of Crawley and punched him in the head multiple times. Anderson told troopers he “got the best” of Crawley before stopping the attack when Crawley bit his arm.
Both men separately told troopers that they believed the physical altercation was mutual.
Anderson was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East for medical treatment. Police say Anderson suffered a small laceration on the back of his head.
Crawley was taken to the PSP-Frackville and interviewed. Police say he had no visible injuries on Crawley, though he reported being struck in the head multiple times.
Preliminary hearings for both men are scheduled for Oct. 21 before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli.
