The Powerball jackpot has increased to $750 million for the drawing on Saturday night. On Friday, game officials raised the jackpot estimate from $725 million. The cash value of this jackpot is now $350.6 million.
This updated amount ranks as the 7th largest prize in Powerball history. The winner on Saturday night will face a choice between an annuitized prize of $750 million or a lump sum payment of $350.6 million, before taxes. If the annuity option is selected, the winner will receive one immediate payment, followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.
The Powerball jackpot was last won on July 19, when a ticket in California matched all numbers, securing a $1.08 billion prize. Since then, there have been 27 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.
The jackpot rolled over on Wednesday night as no tickets matched the six numbers drawn. However, more than a million tickets won prizes, including a ticket in Georgia that matched five white balls, earning a $1 million prize. Two other tickets, sold in Georgia and Texas, matched five white balls, with each winning $2 million due to the Power Play multiplier feature.
Powerball tickets are available for $2 per play in 45 states, including Pennsylvania. Tonight’s drawing is at 10:59 p.m. It’s live streamed on Powerball.com.
The odds of winning any prize are 1:24.9, while the odds of winning the jackpot are 1:292.2 million.
