Just one week after setting a personal best with a fourth-place finish, 18-year-old Jax Yohn of Boyertown secured his first career BQ Concrete 358 Modified victory Friday night at Big Diamond Speedway.
The second-year driver started seventh in the 25-lap headline feature, navigating through a field of veteran competitors to claim the win.
“I’ve always wanted to be at this level and tonight my crew gave me a great car, and it all just played to perfection,” Yohn said in Victory Lane. “It’s so awesome to be running against all those guys. I was about four years old when I first started going to the races and watching them, and now here we are racing with them at their level.”
Yohn moved into the top four early, trailing leader Tim Fitzpatrick, Mike Lisowski, and Rick Laubach. Following a lap-three restart, Yohn overtook Laubach and engaged in a multi-lap battle with Lisowski, clearing him for second on lap nine before passing Fitzpatrick for the lead on lap 10.
Lisowski reclaimed second on lap 14 and pressured the teenager, but Yohn maintained his line on a multi-lane surface to take the checkered flag. Lisowski finished second, followed closely by Duane Howard, Louden Reimert, and Fitzpatrick.

Christian Bruno, of Deptford, New Jersey, secured his first career Big Diamond Speedway victory in the 25-lap main event presented by Baer Den Farms. Bruno moved into second behind early leader Kyle Spence on lap two. Following a series of caution periods, Bruno executed a pass on Spence at the start of lap eight to take permanent control. Stephen Drevicki also passed Spence on lap 10 to finish second, while Spence held on for third.
602 Crate Sportsman

Virginville’s Dakota Kohler earned a rain-shortened victory in the USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman feature. Kohler started fifth, passing Aaron Weaver and pole-sitter McKenzi Smith to claim the lead by lap four. Kohler maintained his advantage over points leader Ryan Graver and Nate Brinker until rain hit the track on lap 16, forcing officials to call the race under caution.
Rookie 602 Crate Sportsman

Devin Whitmoyer, of Hamburg, led from the pole to earn his first career feature victory in the 15-lap main event. Whitmoyer, the son of four-time Open Sportsman Modified champion Craig Whitmoyer, led coast-to-coast to win ahead of Josh Metzger and Payton Renninger.
