Schuylkill County Man Jailed on Child Rape Charges

Victim says she was impregnated by Perez

A Schuylkill County man is facing multiple felony charges, including rape of a child, after police say he repeatedly sexually assaulted a female minor over several years, resulting in a pregnancy.

Police say they received a report from Childline regarding a pregnant female minor in Shenandoah. When police and county child protective services workers contacted the juvenile, they observed her to be in an advanced state of pregnancy.

The victim told police that Luis Perez, 25, of Shenandoah, who is more than eight years older than her, began sexually assaulting her when she was about 5 years old.

The victim reported that the abuse escalated over time to forced vaginal intercourse, police say. She told investigators that Perez would push her into position and force himself on her, ignoring her demands to stop and her complaints of pain.

According to police and child protective services, medical examinations determined the victim conceived a child in May 2025. The victim gave birth to a baby in Pottsville in February and identified Perez as the father, police say.

Perez is charged with rape by forcible compulsion, rape of a child, sexual assault, sexual penetration with forcible compulsion, aggravated indecent assault of a child, corruption of minors, and indecent exposure.

Perez was arraigned Wednesday night before Magisterial District Judge Christian Lengel and charged with multiple felonies, including rape, rape of a child, aggravated indecent assault, and more. Lengel set bail at $275,000 and Perez was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison.
