National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for Schuylkill County at the beginning of next week.
The Heat Watch goes into effect on Sunday morning and extends through Wednesday evening.
Actual temperatures will be in the 90s each day with Heat Index values at or above 105. Overnight temperatures combined with high relative humidity will create extremely oppressive conditions then, too.
The risk of heat-related illness is significantly higher when conditions reach the level of what’s expected for the duration of the Heat Watch.
This heat wave is expected to be at its worst on Monday and Tuesday next week.
According to the latest forecast from National Weather Service, a rather warm day on Saturday – the first full day of summer – will be followed by a four-day heat wave.
The high (and low) temps predicted for each day are:
- Sunday: 92 (71)
- Monday: 94 (73)
- Tuesday: 94 (72)
- Wednesday: 91 (69)
A slight break from the heat is expected on Thursday, with a high temperature of 85 degrees currently in the forecast.
