Schuylkill County Man Allegedly Drank 8 Labatt Blues and Broke Into Lake Wynonah Home

Jedd Burigana, of Schuylkill Haven, being held on $25K bail

A Schuylkill County man who said he drank eight Labatt Blue beers that night was arrested on a burglary charge over the weekend for entering a Lake Wynonah home without permission.

According to court documents, Troopers from State Police-Schuylkill Haven were dispatched to a home on Doe Dr. in Lake Wynonah, South Manheim Township, for an active burglary shortly after midnight on Sunday. The caller said a person was trying to break into their home and saw a silver Volkswagen parked in the driveway.

As police arrived, they noticed a Tiguan in the driveway that was registered to Jedd Burigana, 37, of Schuylkill Haven.

When police entered the home through an unlocked front door, they noticed Burigana sleeping on a couch. Burigana was taken into custody, police say.

During their investigation, police say the juvenile caller phoned 9-1-1 to say that Burigana broke into their home. The juvenile locked the door to their bedroom. Burigana allegedly tried opening the bedroom door, saying “Open up, help me.”

When the juvenile victim did not open the door, Burigana walked away and that’s when the child dialed 9-1-1. An adult resident of the home on Doe Dr. said they had no idea what had happened because they were sleeping at the time.

Police say they then interviewed Burigana who said he was drinking with a friend since about 8 p.m. Saturday at his friend’s father’s home on Cayuga Dr. in Lake Wynonah. Burigana said he drank about eight Labatt Blue beers. He said he wasn’t sure when he left that home on Cayuga Dr. and didn’t know how he arrived at the home on Doe Dr.

Burigana was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Edward Tarantelli at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday and charged with burglary, a first-degree felony, and numerous summary offenses of harassment, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.

Tarantelli set bail at $25,000 cash and remanded Burigana to Schuylkill County Prison. Court records show that Burigana has not yet posted bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 24 before Judge AJ Serina.
