A shirtless Schuylkill County man dressed only in underwear was arrested earlier this month after he threatened to shoot police, hit an officer in the nose, and then tried to bite him.
According to a report filed by police in Frackville, officers were called to a home on Long Row Rd. by an anonymous female who said Tamal Antonelli, 45, of Gilberton, was there and making threats toward a woman. The caller said Antonelli had a history of anger issues and destroying property.
When police arrived, they were met by a woman at the front door. Antonelli was right behind her – dressed only in a pair of underwear – and he began yelling and approached the officers in an aggressive manner, police say.
After police entered the home, Antonelli pushed past the woman and tried blocking the path of police, placing his hands on one officer while trying to push them out of the house. Police say they told Antonelli to stop multiple times and he ignored all those commands.
Antonelli was restrained and sat on a couch inside the home while police conducted their investigation, according to an affidavit. Police say it was obvious that Antonelli was drunk, at the very least and later believed he was high on a controlled substance and may have overdosed.
While on the couch, Antonelli reportedly tried to get up multiple times. He then said to officers, “You’re lucky I couldn’t get to my (bleeping) gun or I would shoot you in your (bleeping) a**.”
At this point, police say they placed Antonelli in the back of a patrol vehicle while they continued their investigation. This caused Antonelli to grow increasingly agitated.
Police say they interviewed the alleged victim of this incident who said Antonelli was highly intoxicated and that a verbal altercation eventually led to him pushing and threatening her. No injuries were noted on the victim, however.
Antonelli was then taken to a nearby hospital. En route to the hospital, police say Antonelli began banging his head and punching windows inside the patrol vehicle. He was also shouting obscenities at police.
At the hospital, police say Antonelli continued his disruptive and threatening behavior and resisted all hospital staff. When he was taken for a urine sample, police say Antonelli refused to return to his exam room at the hospital.
Once police got him back inside his exam room, they say Antonelli continued to shout at them. He was able to free one arm and used it to hit an officer in the nose with his hand. Antonelli then tried to bite an officer.
Police have filed a felony charge of aggravated assault against Antonelli along with misdemeanors for obstruction, making terroristic threats, and disorderly conduct.
