Police say a Schuylkill County man wanted on a bench warrant was recently found hiding under a bed and had a bag of cocaine in his pack of Newport cigarettes.
According to an affidavit filed by police in Schuylkill Haven, an officer was called by the resident of a home on Parkway during the early morning hours of April 23 to report an unwanted man inside their home. The resident asked if police could remove the man from their home.
When police arrived at the home, they say they saw the suspect – identified as 35-year-old Ryan Miller, of Schuylkill Haven – peeking out of an upstairs window. The resident allowed police inside their home and in an upstairs bedroom, Miller was found hiding under a bed.
Miller was taken into custody. On him at the time, police say, he had his hat, a phone, a wallet, a lighter, and a pack of Newports.
Police confirmed that Miller was wanted on an active bench warrant and he was taken to Schuylkill County Prison. At the prison, the pack of Newports was searched again. Inside the pack of cigs, police say they found a small baggie at the bottom. The baggie contained a white, powdery substance they suspected to be cocaine. A test later confirmed it was coke, police say.
Miller is now facing new charges of possession of contraband, a second-degree felony, and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
