Police Say Two Schuylkill County Women Fled Scene of Crash

Police say a pair of Schuylkill County women fled the scene of a vehicle crash earlier this month.

According to information from State Police-Frackville, the crash occurred along Route 924 and its intersection with Route 339 in E. Union Township. shortly before 11 a.m. on April 19.

As a vehicle driven by Solivette Alicea, 40, of Pottsville, was traveling north on Route 924, it failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road. The vehicle left the road on the east shoulder and went down an embankment, eventualy hitting a portable conveyor belt assembly head-on. 

Alicea’s vehicle became disabled as a result of the crash, police say. She and a passenger, Jasmine Reynoso, 27, of Minersville, fled the scene, according to police.

Police have charged Alicea with a pair of summary offenses.

Two Injured in I-81 Crash

Police say a disabled vehicle on Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County was hit when another motorist failed to notice it was still partially on the road.

State Police-Frackville say this incident happened back on April 17, shortly before 4 p.m. on I-81 North in Mahanoy Township.

A vehicle driven by 35-year-old Virginia Adams, of Conyngham, became disabled on the west shoulder of the highway but part of it was still on the road. 

At that time, a vehicle driven by Tara Whitehead, 43, of Kingston, was traveling north and didn’t notice that a portion of Adams’ vehicle was still on the road. Whitehead’s vehicle collided with the rear end of Adams’ vehicle, causing disabling damage to both vehicles.

Adams and Whitehead suffered minor injuries and were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton for treatment.
