Guilty Pleas Entered in Saint Clair Walmart Shooting Incident

Legal issues far from over despite guilty plea from Tyre Dunn

The two men accused of attacking another man inside the Saint Clair Walmart in November plead guilty to lesser charges Tuesday afternoon.

Tyre Dunn, 36, and Jaheim Gregory, 22, both of Pottsville, agreed to plead guilty to summary charges of harassment and disorderly conduct for their roles in that incident at preliminary hearings Tuesday. The hearings were moved to Courtroom 4 at Schuylkill County Courthouse before District Magistrate Judge David Plachko.

According to Schuylkill County Assistant District Attorney David Noon, the victim of Dunn and Gregory’s actions in Walmart on Nov. 10, 2024, Rayhiem Mitchell, 22, of New Philadelphia, was “motivated by a desire to get some closure” from this incident and agreed to the settlement.

Mitchell is accused of firing a warning shot from a handgun toward the ceiling of the store after Dunn and Gregory jumped him near an aisle of Christmas decorations. That shot led to the evacuation of the Walmart and drew a heavy police response.

Though he may get closure from having those who attacked him plead guilty, Mitchell is still facing a felony gun possession charge because police say he kept that handgun concealed while inside Walmart and he doesn’t have a concealed carry permit.

That charge was held for Schuylkill County Court at a preliminary hearing in February.

Plachko imposed a $300 fine (plus court costs) on Gregory Tuesday. Dunn received a 30-day jail sentence.

Dunn’s legal issues are far from resolved, however. He appeared in court Tuesday wearing a Schuylkill County Prison inmate uniform. He’s been there since getting arrested in New Jersey last month.

He was on the run after police in Pottsville issued a warrant for his arrest after they named him a suspect in an arson case in the city earlier this year. Dunn allegedly lobbed a pair of Molotov cocktails at a home on N. 2nd St., where he allegedly knew his son to be at the time, destroying that home and a vacant adjoining home.

During the fire, Dunn’s son reportedly jumped from a window, sustaining burn and broken bone injuries. A cat was also severely burned.

After police tracked Dunn to Lodi, New Jersey, he allegedly hit an FBI agent with a vehicle and then swung an ax at another agent. For that, he’s facing a pair of attempted murder charges.
