A Columbia County man is being accused of smashing his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle in early Feburary while it was parked outside her workplace in Shenandoah.
According to an affidavit filed by State Police-Frackville, Troopers were called to a bar on S. Main St. at about 3:40 a.m. on Feb. 2 for a report of a disturbance.
When Troopers arrived at the scene, they say the saw a vehicle parked along S. Main St. that had a smashed rear windshield, passenger taillight, and driver’s side front and rear windows. The windshield of the vehicle was also cracked. Police say the rear passenger door was pushed in as if it were kicked.
The vehicle owner told police that her ex-boyfriend – identified as 22-year-old Dakota Koreisl, of Wilburton – got upset when she told him to leave because she was closing the bar. Koreisl began yelling but left the bar. She told police that she saw Koreisl on a security camera feed grab a pool stick and walk toward the door of the bar. Then she heard something smash and believed that Koreisl had damaged her vehicle.
Police say they interviewed Koreisl at the scene. He reportedly told police that he got upset because he was trying to repair the relationship he’d had with his ex but she wasn’t interested. Koreisl said he let his anger get the best of him. Police say Koreisl had a strong smell of alcohol emanating from him during their interview.
On Feb. 7, police say they got a copy of an insurance estimate of the damage to Koreisl’s ex’s vehicle and it was for $6,231.40.
Police are charging Koreisl with felony criminal mischief and summary offenses of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He’s got a preliminary hearing scheduled on April 10 before District Magistrate Judge Anthony Kilker.
