A Schuylkill County man and Schuylkill County woman are facing burglary charges after police say they ripped off a Schuylkill Haven area business last month.
According to information from State Police-Schuylkill Haven, at just a little before 4 p.m. on Jan. 31, police say Kenneth Hengen, 34, of New Ringgold, and Ashley Shellhammer, 36, of Schuylkill Haven entered property located on Fair Rd. in Wayne Township owned by Pennsy Supply Inc.
The pair forced their way into a building and removed items worth a little more than $2,600, police say.
Hengen and Shellhammer were apprehended about one-quarter mile from the scene of the alleged burglary.
Both Hengen and Shellhammer were arraigned before District Magistrate David Plachko later that same day. Plachko set bail at $50,000 cash for Hengen and $25,000 for Shellhammer.
Shellhammer posted bond and was released from Schuylkill County Prison on Feb. 1. Hengen has not posted bail, according to court records, and remains locked up in Pottsville.
Each will be back in court on Feb. 6 for a Preliminary Hearing before Plachko in Port Carbon.
Hengen and Shellhammer are are facing second-degree felony charges of burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary, and third-degree felonies of theft and receiving stolen property.
In addition to those charges, this duo are facing misdemeanor drug possession charges. Hengen is also facing a misdemeanor charge of giving police a false identification.
