SUNDAY UPDATE
No changes to the FanDuel or DraftKings lineups, I’m staying strong on those. I did add two plays in terms of gambling:
Bills -5.5
Jaguars +8 (buy the 1/2 point)
I got both of those lines on the Barstool Sportsbook App which is offering some really good promos this weekend as they’re launching it. I obviously have no stake in the app but I can tell you they’re offering some pretty good odds boosts on good bets, $15 totally free for signing up and customizing, and a risk free first bet. So if you’re looking for action this weekend it’s the way to go with all those promos.
Happy Sunday Canary Crew! I hope you jumped on the cash train with me last week because we got 2020 off to a great start with a clean sweep in our cash games! You’re welcome…
On FanDuel we scored 148.6 points which was well above the average cash line even on a relatively high scoring week. On DraftKings we put up 168.66 points which was enough to put us over the line there too. Overall a very successful week. There’s no better feeling than starting off the season with a winning week. THE FLASHLIGHT’S CORE had a good week getting us 93.8 points on FanDuel and 106.8 points on DraftKings. Considering there’s no QB in the CORE I’m very happy with that baseline. Hell, even my gambling picks went 5-1 last week.
While we can’t expect that level of success every week, we can certainly strive for it. So with that in mind, it’s time to move on to Week 2.
As usual first I’ll hit you with THE FLASHLIGHT’S CORE – These are “my guys” for the week who are common between my lineups on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Then I’ll let you know who I’m using to fill out each roster by site. Finally, I’ll show you my lineups. Keep in mind that I do make changes on Sunday morning if news breaks. If that happens I’ll tweet out the link to this updated article.
So make sure you follow me on Twitter @FlashlightDFS for my latest updates, last minute info, game day entertainment, seasonal or daily lineup advice or just to shoot the breeze about football.
THE FLASHLIGHT’S CORE
QUARTERBACK
Dak Prescott ($8300 FD/$6800 DK) – The matchup versus Atlanta is too good to ignore and Dak is in a great spot to succeed. Atlanta was shredded by Russell Wilson last week to the tune of 322/4 with 29 rushing yards and Dak has the exact same potential this week. I see it being a similar game with lots of points as both teams have very potent offenses.
RUNNING BACK
Derrick Henry ($8300 FD/$7900 DK) – I love Derrick Henry. He’s a freak of nature when you see him out there and it’s fun to watch a guy who is 6’3″ and 248 lbs run wild, which is what he’s going to do versus the Jaguars. Henry carried the ball 31 times for 116 yards and even had 3 catches for 15 last week versus Denver and the Jaguars have a weaker run defense. Oh, and Henry has averaged 100+ yards and 1+ TD in his last 3 vs. Jacksonville.
Zack Moss ($5200 FD/$4800 DK) – Sure Moss split time with Devin Singletary last week but he got the same number of carries and caught three passes including a TD. Moss was the goal line back and his biggest competition for carries this week should be QB Josh Allen. Miami was gashed last week by the Patriots and the Bills will look to replicate that game plan.
WIDE RECEIVER
Davante Adams ($8600 FD/$8100 DK) – I really shouldn’t have to explain this but I’ll give you the short version. Adams went off last week for 14/156/2 and this week he’s facing the Lions who made Mitch Trubisky look like an All Pro in the 4th quarter. C’mon.
Allen Robinson II ($7000 FD/$6400 DK) – ARob is pissed the Bears haven’t resigned him yet but that won’t affect his on field performance. He faces off against the Giants who just allowed a 38-year old QB with a surgically repaired right elbow who hasn’t played in over a year to bust them up for 3 TD, two of them going to their primary WR threat. Robinson should feast on the weak Giants secondary.
Amari Cooper ($7000 FD/$6300 DK) – Look, I’m willing the die on the hill this week that the Atlanta/Dallas game is a shoot out. Cooper was peppered with targets last week (14) and put up a solid 10/81 stat line. If we love Dak we gotta love his receivers, and Cooper is priced too low this week to ignore.
TIGHT END
JORDAN REED ($4800 FD/$2600 DK) – Oh sweet lord baby Jesus I’m doing this. Yes, we’re going with Jordan Reed. The bottom line is that with George Kittle out, this offense has no pass catchers. Reed will fill that void against a terrible Jets defense. At this low price we don’t need much from him, so we’re just hoping he can avoid injury and he should pay off. Don’t forget, before his concussion issues (7 so far…) Reed was one of the premier pass catching tight ends in the league. The skill is still there and now the opportunity will be too.
FANDUEL
THE FLASHLIGHT’S CORE PLUS:
RB – Jonathan Taylor ($5800) – With Marlon Mack done for the season the Colts announced this week that Taylor is taking over as the starting RB. While his rush stats last week weren’t impressive (9/22) it was good to see him involved in the passing game (6 targets, 6/67). I think last week was an abomination for the Colts and they’re going to roll all over the Vikings with Taylor as the lead back.
DST – San Fransisco 49ers ($5000) – I don’t usually spend up on DST but this week it just works out. The Niners come east to face the Jets who are truly terrible at football. The Jets are starting Frank Gore this week and with Jamison Crowder missing the game I really have no idea how they’re going to move the ball. The Niners will be out for blood this week after losing at home to Arizona so I expect them to relentlessly kick the Jets asses up and down the field all day.
DRAFTKINGS
THE FLASHLIGHT’S CORE PLUS:
WR – Parris Campbell ($4500) – Campbell tied for the team lead in targets last week and led the team in catches putting up a 6/71 stat line. He faces the Vikings this week who were just embarrassed by the Packers who lit them up for 364/4. I don’t expect the Colts to score that much through the air, but it’s clear Phillip Rivers is comfortable throwing his way. Rivers has a history of making slot receivers his primary target also…ever heard of Keenan Allen?
DST – Indianapolis Colts ($2500) – So basically I refuse to accept that the Colts defense is as bad as it looked last week. Minnesota is fools gold as they picked up most of their offensive production in garbage time last week. As a near minimum priced DST you could do much worse.
THE FLASHIGHTS FAVORITE BETS
Off to a good start last week, went 5-1. Let’s do it again.
Colts -3
Steelers -6.5
Steelers/Broncos OVER 40.5
Rams +1.5
Rams ML +110
Chiefs/Chargers OVER 47.0
Ok Canary Crew, that wraps it up for Week 2. Good Luck!
