The fourth suspect in the Aug. 12 armed robbery of Minersville General Store turned himself in to authorities on Tuesday afternoon.
Shynir Jeffcoat, 22, was arraigned before District Magistrate David Plachko and remanded to Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 cash bail. Jeffcoat is allegedly one of four men who robbed the Minersville General Store on the night of Aug. 22.
Since the incident, Jeffcoat had been a fugitive after being named a suspect in the case.
Za’ir Alvarez, 17, Adan Twigg, 20, and Edward Martinez, 18, all from Pottsville, were arrested within 24 hours of the robbery. Their cases were moved to Schuylkill County Court back in late-September.
All four are alleged to have stolen cash and other merchandise from the store while holding the clerk at gunpoint with a BB gun.
Police asked for the public’s help in gathering information for their investigation into the alleged robbery. Surveillance footage and informants helped identify the suspects.
Jeffcoat is facing felony charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, conspiracy to commit theft, receiving stolen property, conspiracy to commit receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault.
A preliminary hearing for Jeffcoat has been scheduled for Nov. 26.
