David T. George, lifelong Schuylkill County resident, United States Marine Corps veteran, retired police officer, and dedicated community leader, has officially announced his candidacy for Magisterial District Judge.
Born in 1972 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, George is a proud father of four children — David, Hannah, Max, and Ethen — and shares his life with his partner, Kelly Houtz. A lifelong Republican, George has dedicated his adult life to serving the residents of Schuylkill County through military service, law enforcement, public office, and community involvement.
“I have spent my life serving and protecting the people of this county,” said George. “As Magisterial District Judge, I will continue that service with fairness, integrity, and respect for the law.”
George attended St. Vincent School in Minersville and graduated from Pottsville Area High School in 1990. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served his country and earned the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1998.
Following his military service, George continued his commitment to public safety. In 2000, he graduated from the Reading Police Academy and began his law enforcement career. He served for more than two decades, retiring in 2022 as a Police Officer with the Schuylkill Haven Borough Police Department.
Throughout his law enforcement career, George gained extensive experience working within the judicial system, including criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, and community policing. His professional background provided him with firsthand knowledge of the responsibilities and procedures of the magisterial court system.
In June 2026, George successfully passed the Pennsylvania Magisterial District Judge certification examination, fulfilling an important qualification requirement for individuals seeking to serve in this judicial position.
In addition to his professional service, George remains actively involved in his community. He currently works as a driver/laborer for Michael F. Ronca & Sons, Inc. in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
George is a life member of the MarLin Citizens Fire Company, a member of the Seltzer Fire Company, President of the Seltzer Gun Club, and an active member of the St. Clair and Phoenix Park Fish and Game organizations. He is also a member of the Frackville Elks, and a social member of several other local organizations.
George currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Norwegian Township Supervisors and is in his second term as Township Supervisor.
“My experiences as a Marine, police officer, public servant, and community member have prepared me to serve as Magisterial District Judge with a steady hand and sound judgment,” George stated. “I understand the responsibility of this role and the importance of upholding the law while treating every person who enters the courtroom with dignity and respect.”
George’s campaign will focus on law and order, constitutional values, community safety, and maintaining the integrity of the local court system.
Campaign Leadership & Kickoff Fundraiser
George’s campaign committee will be led by Campaign Chairman Peter Kalinich of Marlin and Campaign Manager Melissa Santai of Pottsville.
The campaign will officially kick off with a fundraising event on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. at Palermo’s Restaurant in Minersville, Pennsylvania.
The event will provide an opportunity for residents, friends, family, and community members to meet with George, learn more about his candidacy, and hear about his priorities for the magisterial district.
With a lifetime of service to Schuylkill County, George looks forward to meeting with residents, listening to their concerns, and sharing his vision for the future of the magisterial district.
