Tri-Valley Sweeps Schuylkill Haven for District XI Class 2A Volleyball Title

Tri-Valley rolled past Schuylkill Haven Area 25-4, 25-12, 25-15 on Wednesday to win the District XI Class 2A volleyball championship at Minersville.

Pottsville Area, Nativity BVM, and Pine Grove Area all came up short in their district finals this week.

• Class 5A: #2 Southern Lehigh def. #1 Pottsville Area, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-21)
• Class 1A: #1 Bethlehem Christian def. #3 Nativity BVM, 3-1 (25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20)
• Class 3A (Tuesday): #1 Allentown Central Catholic def. #2 Pine Grove Area, 3-1
• Class 4A (Tuesday): #1 Bethlehem Catholic def. #3 Northwestern Lehigh, 3-0

The top-seeded Bulldogs allowed just 31 points in three sets against their Schuylkill League rival.

Tri-Valley didn’t drop a set in the district tournament, sweeping Shenandoah Valley in the semifinals before Wednesday’s final.

Schuylkill League champion Pottsville Area, the top seed in Class 5A, fell to second-seeded Southern Lehigh 25-18, 25-18, 25-21 at Lehighton.

Anna Burke and Ava Schwartz each had six kills for the Crimson Tide. Burke added four aces, two blocks, and two digs, and Schwartz had 10 digs.

Rhyan Brennan had three kills, three digs, two blocks, and an ace, and Gianna LaSelva had a kill, a block, and a dig.

Nativity BVM won the third set but fell to top-seeded Bethlehem Christian 25-20, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20 in the Class 1A final at Catasauqua High School.

Molly Holiday led the Green Wave with 15 kills, five digs, and a block. Finley McNamara had 10 kills, three blocks, three digs, and two assists.

Addisan Ricard had 27 assists, seven digs, and three kills. Amara Miller added 15 digs and two assists, and EmmaJoan Fox had 10 digs.

Pine Grove Area fell to top-seeded Allentown Central Catholic 3-1 in the Class 3A final Tuesday at Catasauqua High School.

In Class 4A, top-seeded Bethlehem Catholic swept Northwestern Lehigh for the title Tuesday at Catasauqua High School. Northwestern Lehigh had eliminated Panther Valley in the semifinals.
