Schuylkill County Man Wanted After Allegedly Pulling Gun on Group of Pedestrians, Including 3 Juveniles

Warrant issued for Chase Fegley

A Schuylkill County man is wanted by police after allegedly pointing a handgun at four pedestrians, including three juveniles, on a borough street in July.

Chase Fegley, 28, of Schuylkill Haven, is charged with four misdemeanor counts of simple assault and four summary counts of harassment. Sgt. Warren G. Firing filed the charges Nov. 5 before Magisterial District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek.

Police in Schuylkill Haven allege the incident occurred on the morning of July 10 near N. Berne and Pine streets. According to investigators, an adult and three juveniles were walking along the road when a white Jeep Cherokee rounded the corner and blew its horn at them.

After words were exchanged between a pedestrian and the driver, the Jeep pulled past the group and parked. Police said the driver exited the vehicle, racked the slide of a black semi-automatic handgun, asked “you got a problem,” and pointed the weapon at the group.

The four pedestrians fled toward a playground on North Berne Street as the vehicle drove away, police said. Surveillance video from a nearby residence recorded the group running from the street, with one juvenile heard shouting, “Guy got a gun bro”. Footage also showed the Jeep driving past the playground moments later.

Two days later, a neighborhood resident alerted police that the Jeep was parked on Pine St.

Investigators identified the vehicle’s owner as Fegley’s former girlfriend, who told police that Fegley had been driving the vehicle that morning with their 9-year-old child. Police said the woman reported that Fegley claimed individuals were attempting to break into a garage and that he had pointed a drill at them. She also told officers that Fegley is not legally permitted to own firearms.

During a consensual search of the vehicle, officers found a loose .45-caliber hollow-point bullet on the floor next to the driver’s seat, a box containing 17 rounds of .45-caliber ammunition in the glove compartment, and Fegley’s cellphone in the rear cargo area.

The adult victim later positively identified Fegley from a photo lineup as the man who pointed the handgun, according to police.
