Ten Schuylkill League Teams Set for District XI Football Playoffs

Ten Schuylkill League football teams have qualified for the District XI playoffs, which get underway this week.

Williams Valley in Class 1A, Schuylkill Haven in Class 2A, and Blue Mountain in Class 4A all earned top seeds. The action starts Thursday with the Class 3A quarterfinals.

Here’s a look at the District XI football playoff brackets and schedule:

Class 1A

Three of the four teams in Class 1A come from the Schuylkill League.

Top-seeded Williams Valley (9-1) hosts #4 Lackawanna Trail (4-6) in a semifinal on Friday at 7 p.m.

#2 Tri-Valley (6-4) hosts #3 Marian Catholic (4-6) in an all-Schuylkill League semifinal at the same time.

The Class 1A championship is Friday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. The site has not been announced.

Class 2A

Schuylkill Haven (6-4) earned the top seed in Class 2A and hosts #4 Catasauqua (4-6) on Friday at 7 p.m.

#2 Shenandoah Valley (7-3) hosts #3 Northern Lehigh (5-5) at the same time. If both Schuylkill League teams win, they’ll meet for the Class 2A title on Friday, Nov. 13.

Class 3A

Tamaqua Area (6-4), the 6 seed, travels to #3 Jim Thorpe Area (6-4) on Thursday at 6 p.m. Jim Thorpe left the Schuylkill League in realignment.

#8 Panther Valley (4-6) faces a tall task at top-seeded Northwestern Lehigh (9-1) on Thursday at 6 p.m.

In the other Class 3A quarterfinals on Thursday, #2 Notre Dame-Green Pond (9-1) hosts #7 Salisbury (3-7) at 6 p.m., and #4 Executive Education Academy (5-5) hosts #5 Palmerton Area (7-3) at 7 p.m.

The Class 3A semifinals are Friday, Nov. 13, and the championship is Friday, Nov. 20.

Class 4A

Top-seeded Blue Mountain (9-1) hosts #8 Bangor Area (4-6) in a Class 4A quarterfinal on Saturday at 6 p.m.

#4 Pottsville Area (7-3) hosts #5 Lehighton Area (7-3) on Saturday at 1 p.m. The winner moves on to face the Blue Mountain-Bangor winner in the semifinals.

#7 North Schuylkill (3-7) takes on #2 Bethlehem Catholic (8-2) on Saturday at 6 p.m. at BASD Stadium.

#3 Allentown Central Catholic (6-4) and #6 Saucon Valley (6-4) open the Class 4A tournament on Friday at 7 p.m. at J. Birney Crum Stadium.

The Class 4A semifinals are Saturday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m., and the championship is Friday, Nov. 20.

• Class 4A quarterfinal: #7 North Schuylkill vs. #2 Bethlehem Catholic, 6 p.m. at BASD Stadium
