Incumbent Republicans swept the four races for State House of Representatives in Schuylkill County on Tuesday.
Tim Twardzik defeated Palo Alto Mayor John Deatrich in the 123rd District. Of the four House races in which Schuylkill County voters had a choice, the 123rd District is entirely within the county borders.
In a statement to Coal Region Canary, Twardzik thanked voters for their support and his staff for their help during his time in office.
He said, “Tonight, I am deeply humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve another term as your state representative.
“A decisive victory is not something I take for granted. It reflects the confidence, trust, and support of so many people who believe in the work we are doing together for Schuylkill County and the 123rd District.
“I want to thank my wife Carol and my family, our dedicated volunteers, supporters, and especially the voters who have given me this incredible opportunity to serve for a fourth term. Your confidence means everything to me.
“I also want to recognize the outstanding team that makes our work possible every day. Sherri, Jean, Tanya and Amy in our district office, and Christine at the Capitol, are caring, professional, and dedicated public servants. Together, we work hard to listen, respond, and deliver for the people of our district.
“This victory is not simply about another term. It is about renewed responsibility, continued commitment, and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the people we represent.
“Thank you for your trust, your friendship, and your support. I look forward to continuing the work ahead—and serving the people of the 123rd District with the same commitment, energy, and pride that brought us here tonight.”
Jamie Barton turned aside another challenge from Democrat Tina Burns in the 124th. The district is made up of parts of Schuylkill and Berks counties. In Berks County, Barton won 60% of the vote.
Barton will be serving his third term representing the 124th District.
With votes tabulated in his favor, Barton told Coal Region Canary by phone, “It’s an honor to serve in the 124th. I’m looking forward to working just as hard as I have in my first two terms for the people of Berks and Schuylkill counties and all of Pennsylvania.”
JoAnne Stehr overwhelmed Ryan Coleman in the vote for the 107th District. Stehr took 69% of the vote overall. Her district includes parts of Schuylkill and Northumberland counties.
In a statement to Coal Region Canary, Stehr said, “I am certainly honored to be entrusted to represent the wonderful 107 th district again. I was pleased to see the overwhelming turnout at the polls today.”
And Dane Watro ran unopposed for the 116th District seat. The 116th includes parts of Schuylkill and Luzerne counties.
