Tremont Man Charged with Pointing Shotgun at Disabled Veteran’s Head

A Tremont man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly pointed a shotgun at the head of a disabled veteran in Joliett, Porter Township.

The incident happened just after midnight Saturday at the Joliett Fire Co.

According to State Police in Schuylkill Haven, Russell Bruder, 42, was patrolling the parking lot at Joliett Fire Co. With him, he had a single-barrel 20-gauge shotgun.

Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, Bruder approached 38-year-old Clinton Mettler, of Milton. Police describe Mettler as a disabled veteran.

Mettler was apparently parked in the area of the fire company, near the area where Bruder was patrolling. It’s not stated why Bruder was patrolling the fire company’s parking lot.

However, Mettler’s presence apparently alarmed Bruder who confronted the veteran and pointed the shotgun at his head.

Mettler pulled a concealed pistol on Bruder in an attempt to defend himself.

No shots were fired during the confrontation.

Police say Bruder was arraigned and had bail set at $50,000. A search of court records Sunday night shows that this incident hasn’t been recorded just yet.
