The Schuylkill League golf season teed off Thursday and several medalists were already in top form. Nativity’s Steve Karinch (70) and Tamaqua Area’s Sam Vinc (74) were the low scorers on the day.

Here is a look at results from Thursday’s matches from the opening day of Schuylkill League golf action for the 2026 season.
Blue Mountain 335, Tamaqua Area 358
Despite a match-medalist round from Tamaqua’s Sam Vinc, Blue Mountain’s depth propelled the Eagles to a 23-stroke Schuylkill League victory, 335-358, at Schuylkill Country Club on Thursday.
Vinc was the star of the day individually, firing a 74 to lead all golfers by nine strokes. However, Blue Mountain answered with team balance, putting all six of their competitors under 90.
Dylan Knittle and Connor Roeder co-led the Eagles with matching 83s, backed closely by Owen Crossen (84) and Braeden Welsh (85) to lock down the team win.
Jacob Fritzinger (89), Brody Boyle (90), and Keith Fink (105) supplied the other three counting scores for Tamaqua.
Weatherly Area 319, Nativity BVM 327
Despite a 70 from Nativity’s Steve Karinch, Weatherly relied on an tight pack of low scores to lock down an eight-stroke victory, 319-327, at White Birch Golf Course.
The Wreckers secured the win behind a top-four lineup separated by just two strokes. Eli Brown and Chance Stauffer paced Weatherly with matching rounds of 79, closely supported by Brad Connors (80) and Jacob Hinkle (81).
The Green Wave rounded out their scoring top four with contributions from Bo McDonald (81), Harry Marks (82), and Layne Pasker (94).
North Schuylkill 351, Pottsville Area 369
North Schuylkill rode a match-medalist performance and balanced scoring to secure an 18-stroke Schuylkill League victory over Pottsville, 351-369, at Mountain Valley Golf Course Thursday.
Jace Jackson set the standard on the day, carding a team-low 81 to take match medalist honors. The Spartans sealed the victory with consistent play across their counting top four, as Dylan Cairo and Sam Klingerman each turned in matching 89s, and Rylen Coyle shot a 92.
Pottsville was led by Danny Markus, who posted a team-best 88. Brody Kline (92), Connor Well (94), and Colton Oswald (95) rounded out the scores for the Crimson Tide.
Mahanoy Area 344, Pine Grove Area 376
The Golden Bears took down the Cardinals on the opening day of the season on Thursday.
Lourdes Regional 364, Panther Valley 411
The Red Raiders rolled over the Panthers in each school’s opening match of the 2026 season at Indian Hills Golf Club.
