A Mechanicsburg man is accused of repeatedly punching a man in the back of the head as the man tried to tow his truck near the Amazon warehouse in Frailey Township earlier this month.
Khalif Ali, 46, faces a misdemeanor count of simple assault and summary counts of harassment and disorderly conduct in connection with the alleged Oct. 4 incident.
State Police were called to the warehouse entrance road shortly before 2:30 a.m. that Sunday for a reported assault.
After speaking with those involved, police learned Ali had become physically aggressive toward the man while the man was trying to tow Ali’s truck from the roadway. The incident happened on or near the entrance road, an area used by employees and other members of the public, police say.
The man told police Ali approached him and struck him multiple times in the back of the head with a closed fist. He said he tried to retreat from Ali, but Ali kept hitting him. He reported pain and swelling to the back of his head.
A witness backed up the man’s account and gave police cellphone video that showed Ali repeatedly striking the man as he tried to move away and avoid further contact. According to police, the video was consistent with the man’s description and showed Ali throwing repeated strikes.
Ali has been summoned to appear before Magisterial District Judge Christian Lengel for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 10.
