A Berks County man is accused of stealing more than $7,000 in jewelry from a Schuylkill County Walmart store.
Rush Township Police say they responded to the Walmart on Plaza Drive after employees say they discovered a large amount of jewelry missing during a walk-through of the store at about 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 23.
After reviewing security camera footage from inside the store, police say they identified Antonio Candelaria-Rodriguez, 46, of West Reading, as the suspect. They say Candelaria-Rodriguez removed the jewelry from a display case and concealed it in the pocket of his sweatshirt. He then exited the store without paying for the merchandise.
An itemization of the items stolen added up to a retail value of $7,785.70, police say.
A warrant for the arrest of Candelaria-Rodriguez was signed by Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek on Oct. 20. He’s facing a felony count of retail theft.
