National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Schuylkill County starting at 8 p.m. Sunday and running through 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11.
Forecasters believe anywhere from 1-5 inches of snow could fall on the back end of a rain storm that’s dumping up to 2 inches of rain on the coal region.
Sullivan and Columbia counties are also included in this Winter Weather Advisory.
How much snow falls from this persistent storm depends on where you live.
You can expect anywhere from 1-2 inches of snow in the valleys and between 3-5 inches of snow in higher elevations.
Wind gusts up to 35 mph are also expected in the overnight hours into Monday.
Most of the heaviest snow will fall during the overnight hours. However, snow could start mixing in with rain as early as 8 p.m. Sunday.
The Monday morning commute could be a bit slippery from the overnight snowfall.
