Pottsville Area Development Corp. is releasing video introductions to the finalists in the Launch Pottsville business contest.
The goal of the contest is to develop new business owners in the city and PADCO believes the winners of this year’s contest, to be decided in Spring, will be up and running before the end of the year.
The initial entry field for the Launch Pottsville contest has been narrowed down and the public can learn a little bit about each of the finalists. PADCO will be releasing videos introducing all the other finalists in the Launch Pottsville competition over the next several days.
Launch Pottsville Business Contest Finalist – Arrow
Arrow is founded by Allie and Jared Doran. Jared is a Minersville native while Allie hails from Harleysville, Montgomery County.
The Dorans want Arrow to be a downtown Pottsville business that offers rentable office, studio, and event space.
“The concept behind Arrow is to provide resources for creatives, professionals, and entrepreneurs in the Pottsville area,” Allie says in a video introduction to the business released this morning by PADCO. “We really feel that it would be a marketplace and a hub for people that are looking to branch out, maybe start off … anybody in the area that really feels they need a community to call home.
She also feels Arrow can be a place for like-minded entrepreneurs to come together and benefit from that networking power.
Jared says they want to launch Arrow because there’s potential for growth in the Pottsville area.
These video introductions are part of Phase 2 of the Launch Pottsville competition. The winner at the end gets $150,000 in cash and pro bono services to help start their business.
Also during Phase 2, the prospective business owners work with local mentors to refine their business plan and goals. They’ll also begin scouting potential physical locations within the city.
The contest culminated with a Shark Tank-style elevator pitch presentation in front of an audience at Schuylkill YMCA on April 28.
