Schuylkill County Commissioner Frank Staudenmeier will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 7, in his hometown of Ashland.
Staudenmeier passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 29, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Florida, while on vacation.
Staudenmeier Funeral Arrangements Announced
According to an announcement from Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home in Ashland, Staudenmeier’s services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
The Parish is located at 1115 Walnut St. in Ashland. Rev. Brian Miller will officiate the services.

Public Viewings
The Parish will host two public viewings. Hours are:
- Friday, March 6, from 5-8 p.m.
- Saturday, March 7, from 9-10:45 a.m.
Mass of Christian Burial
- Saturday, March 7, from 11 a.m. until noon
Interment
A procession through Ashland leads to the County Commissioner’s final resting place. Staudenmeier will be laid to rest at St. Mauritius Cemetery, on Cemetery Rd., Ashland.
Somber Mood at Schuylkill County Courthouse
A source tells us the mood was somber and emotional at Schuylkill County Courthouse Wednesday as Commissioners George Halcovage and Gary Hess tried to carry on with a regularly scheduled meeting.
We’re told each offered additional sentiments to what they’ve already expressed publicly on the passing of their colleague. Each got emotional discussing their connection with Staudenmeier over the years.
The emotions weren’t just limited to his fellow Commissioners, either. Staudenmeier’s death is being felt around the Courthouse, where he’s worked as Commissioner since 2002.
