Schuylkill County native Gavin Bartholomew had his longest pass reception of his early NFL career on Sunday in the Minnesota Vikings’ win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Early in the second quarter, Bartholomew, a 2021 Blue Mountain High School graudate, took in a pass from Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray and gained 17 yards. It was his longest pass catch through 6 games this season. That was his only catch of the game.
Bartholomew’s catch was part of a 12-play, 67-yard drive that resulted in a field goal to pull the Vikings to within 1 point of the Colts, 7-6.
Minnesota’s starting tight end, TJ Hockenson, returned to the starting lineup after suffering a concussion in Week 5. The team had a bye in Week 6.
Minnesota defeated the Colts, 16-10, and remained undefeated at 6-0.
Bartholomew now has 7 catches this season for 54 yards. He’s averaging 7.7 yards per reception. In Week 5, he took in career highs in catches (5) and yards (33) after filling in for the injured Hockenson. He now has catches in 3 consecutive games for the Vikings.
Minnesota will face one of its toughest tests of the season next week when it travels to Detroit for a division showdown with the Lions at 1 p.m. Sunday.
