Accused Trespasser Told Police He Was God, Part of Illuminati and Everything Was an Illusion

Hinkle allegedly had vape pens with DMT, marijuana

A Weatherly man told State Police he was God and that everything around him was an illusion after State Police responded to a trespassing complaint in Packer Township last week, State Police-Hazleton said.

Stephen Hinkle, 50, was taken into custody July 29 following the incident along Quakake Road, police said.

Troopers were dispatched to a Quakake Road property for a report of a man trespassing there, police said. When troopers arrived, they determined Hinkle had left the scene and returned to his own property, also on Quakake Road.

Troopers met Hinkle in his driveway. He told them “he was God and everything around him are illusions and he is also part of the Illuminati,” police said.

Hinkle then told troopers he was using DMT, or dimethyltryptamine, and marijuana, and that he was having out of body experiences, police said. He voluntarily handed over two vape pens that contained both DMT and marijuana, according to police.

Hinkle was placed into custody and transported to the State Police station in Hazleton.

He was arraigned before Carbon County Magisterial District Judge Beth Dodson, who set bail at $500,000 unsecured. Hinkle was released.
